We employ an algorithm to automatically italicize genera, species, and subspecies name strings in your biological classification. So all you need to do is to indicate the rank of each taxon, and genus and species names will automatically get italicized. However, we do not (yet) recognize and transform taxon names in the text of your taxon pages, so if you want to have names italicized there, you should use the italics button in the toolbar of the text editor to mark up relevant text strings.
